On the 29 May, all the leading companies in Finland got together at Business Finland’s Veturivarikko event. This time, the event was organised at Wärtsilä’s Sustainable Technology Hub in Vaasa, and hosted in cooperation with the leading companies in Ostrobothnia, i.e. Wärtsilä, Danfoss, Mirka, and ABB.
At this event, companies with the leading company status in Finland got together to discuss and share best practises. This time around, there were multiple new leading companies present to introduce themselves. Eleonor Hedström, Ecosystem Lead in the WISE programme, presented WISE during the event and was happy with the outcome.
“I was proud to introduce our second Veturi program WISE – Wide & Intelligent Sustainable Energy, alongside other new Veturi programs from Valio, Kempower, and Patria. The pitches delivered a common narrative on sustainability and digitalisation, showcasing the innovative strides being made in this field,” she said.
Overall, there were over 40 participants, and the hosts were happy to see that almost all of the other leading company projects were represent at the event. This created an excellent atmosphere for discussion.
“These networking and sharing experiences with other leading companies leads to closer collaboration between us. In addition, we had a great and open dialogue with Business Finland on how to increase the number of SMEs through universities of applied sciences in the Veturi projects. We also touched upon the subject of how to improve the connection between basic research and the exploitations of the findings by the leading companies,” said Kenneth Widell, GM Research Coordination & Funding, head of both ZEM and WISE.
