Developing a commercially viable business model for the ecosystem and marine sector

Wärtsilä wants to drive the green transition through commercially viable business models for all the players in the ecosystem. This is achieved through significant research and co-operation in evaluating commercial models, delivery models and further technology options.

Main objective: Enable lifecycle emission reductions through creation of business models based on co-sharing of profit and creation of added value

List of important research topics:
  • Engine and vessel fuel efficiency and emission reduction through upgrades optimized operations and devices
  • Emission Compliance (CII), capability to guarantee fuel savings that are required for targeted CII rating
  • Financing and performance guarantees for fuel savings, risk management
  • Optimised usage of the powertrain and vessel to enable fuel and emission savings
